Bio:Stanislaw Migórski is a Full Professor of Mathematics at Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland. In 1977, he received Habilitation degree in Mathematics. In 2003, he was granted the title of Full Professor of Mathematics by Polish President. As the project leader and the main member of various projects, Dr. Migórski has participated in nearly 30 international and domestic projects, with a cumulative amount of over 20 million yuan. Among them, in the past 10 years, the cumulative amount of personal hosting has been close to 14 million. From 2020 to present, his papers and monographs have been cited 4,164 times, with an H-index of 28 within 5 years and an i10 index of 95 within 5 years. He has published over 200 SCI and EI papers. In the past 10 years, there have been nearly 30 papers in Q1 (according to Chinese Academy of Sciences JCR in 2016) and over 50 papers in Q2 or above.

AbstractWe describe some basic ideas in variational and hemivariational inequalities which appear in the mathematical modeling of nonconvex and nonsmooth problems in contact mechanics. First, we present the concepts leading to inequality problems encountered in solid and fluid mechanics based on a model example. Then, we comment on various selected approaches and results for the inequalities. Finally, we discuss the applications to which the theory can be employed.
